Intro to Photo2Graph


Photo2Graph is a lightweight open source Photo Metadata Editor that utilises XMP metadata to enable super fast searching.

User Stuff

– Designed for non-expert end user, focuses on most important metadata so as not to confuse the user with hundreds of similar metadata fields
– First photo metadata editor to integrate GEDCOM Location, Event and Person information
– Automatic geocoding and track generation from latitude and longitude, building database of locations to speed up processing
– Matching of photo dates with Events to provide additional automation of metadata generation.
– Map based display of photos and tracks
– Identifies duplicates and can tidy up files into organised directories

Technical Info

  • Photo2Graph is the first desktop program to generate an RDF / Semantic Web database from photos. This delivers very fast knowledge graph searching of metadata and allows integration with third party Semantic Web tools.
  • Open source, written in Java using Java-based metadata libraries – it does not rely on third party tools such as ExifTool (which is, however, a great program!)
  • RDF search capabilities provides searching of non standard, hidden XMP metadata
  • Fully IPTC Compliant for metadata
  • Works with JPEG and TIFF image formats
